packing for the aus -> mia move was challenging to me because it is a full-time job. i had a hard time focus on work with all the work involved in the move: finding good movers, scheduling, figuring out what items go into where, what you should bring with you v.s. what goes into the boxes, where you should stay in between the move, etc.
after days and a full weekend of packing, today was the day before the move and i was still only about 60% done at midnight. i had a dozen open boxes with some items, somewhat categorized by its function (kitchen, bathroom, etc.) the final 20% was the hardest because i just had straggling items that i had to stuff in to boxes that had the right shape for it. it felt never-ending, torture for someone with OCD, and i felt like throwing everything i owned and just start fresh. i remember thinking adopting the minimalism lifestyle isn't so bad. my SI joint was also flaring with the squatting up and down movements and it was gruelling. but i eventually got the job done, and aimed to sleep for just a few hours, before the movers would come in the morning.

I tend to think that most fears about A.I. are best understood as fears about capitalism. And I think that this is actually true of most fears of technology, too. Most of our fears or anxieties about technology are best understood as fears or anxiety about how capitalism will use technology against us. And technology and capitalism have been so closely intertwined that it’s hard to distinguish the two.
